Project Overview:

Students will work with a partner to cover a portion of Ancient Egyptian history. They will summarize the important events and create a watercolor image of perhaps a prominent Pharaoh, artifact, or historical milestone. Students will then put their piece of Egyptian history together on a whole class timeline. The partnerships will then teach their team their portion of history.

What will we consider?

  • How do historians conduct research?

  • What makes sources credible?

  • How can I summarize significant historical events?

  • How can I improve my work through critique?

  • What historical connections can we make with the novel, The Red Pyramid?

What will we create?

  • We will use a research graphic organizer to compile the historical information gathered.

  • We will use curated online and text-based resources.

  • We will use the CATI strategy to help us understand articles about Ancient Egypt.

  • We will create watercolor paintings of a significant historical person, event, or artifact.

  • We will create a unified whole-class timeline that follows the history of Ancient Egypt.

How will we collaborate?

  • We will work with a partner to create the historical summary.

  • We will work with a partner to create the watercolor component.

  • We will offer and receive critique.

  • We will teach our segment of Ancient Egyptian history to the rest of the team.

How will we challenge ourselves?

  • Create Character Profile Posters.

  • Choose your own CATI - Egypt Edition.

  • Support our class as an expert editor.

  • Support our class as a Timeline Builder.
