Project Overview

For this first project, we will plan your dream trip using Google Apps and Google Tour Builder.  Your trip will lead you around the world as we learn about two of the five themes of geography- location and place.

What will we Learn?

• Use Google Apps to complete and collaborate on class assignments.

• Produce, edit and publish work for a public audience

• Create a digital portfolio for their work here at HTMNC.

• Identify absolute and relative location.

• Identify the physical and human characteristics of a location.

What will we create?

• Choose a theme for your trip.

• Plan for at least 5 stops on your trip that fit within the theme.

• Create a public Google Maps Tour that includes thoughtful descriptions of location and place and free public domain images.

• Create a google doc for your stop descriptions that can be edited with the help of your classmates.

• Create your HTMNC digital portfolio with a page for The Roadtrippers Project.

How will we collaborate?

Each student will be planning their own trip. This way, you will demonstrate all of the Google and geography skills that we have learned.  We will work together in table/continent groups to edit our work for a public audience.  You may volunteer to act as an expert for the geography, writing, and tech skills we are working on.

How will we know if we are successful?

• Individual project benchmarks will be assigned on Google Classroom.  You are expected to submit completed work on time so that it may be critiqued by classmates and teachers.

• Critique should be applied from draft to draft to demonstrate growth.

• Specific skills will be measured at skill checkpoints.  Students may continue to work on these skills as they move toward mastery and may retake a checkpoint as needed.

How will we challenge ourselves?

Basic project goals will be assigned with Google Classroom, but you may take the project as far as you like.  Propose a challenge idea to your teachers and run with it!  An example of an excellent challenge would be planning a flight itinerary and budget to get you from stop to stop!
