Operation Gratitude 

Expressing our gratitude to the troops!

Project Overview

Students will organize and host a Gratitude Potluck for HTMNC families and Guests of Honor - Veterans! At the Gratitude Potluck, students will present heartfelt letters to our exhibition attendees. We will send all of our letters to the organization, Operation Gratitude, where they send these letters to troops all around the world.

 

What will we consider?

  • Why is it important for troops who are deployed to feel gratitude?                 

  • What impact does expressing gratitude have on people?

  • How has the experience of being deployed impacted Veterans?

 

What will we create?

  • We will write a thoughtful and well critiqued letters to send to troops within all branches of the military.

  • We will organize, plan, and decorate a festive Gratitude Potluck.

  • We will present our letters by reading them to our attendees of the Gratitude Potluck.

 

How will we collaborate?

  • We will work with a partner craft our letters to the troops.

  • We will welcome guest speakers.

  • We will offer and receive critique.

  • We will participate in editing and revision workshops.

  • We will discuss our short stories with our story groups.

  • We will enjoy the Gratitude Potluck with our friends and family.

 

How will we challenge ourselves?

  • Write additional letters!

  • Participate in one of the 5 Operation Gratitude Committees!

  • Support our class as an expert editor!

  • Research the different branches of the military.

  • Current Events CATI.
